Southwood is 0-9 against Captain Shreve since November of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Southwood Cowboys will look to defend their home field against the Captain Shreve Gators at 7:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Southwood has struggled recently with 17 losses in a row, while Captain Shreve will arrive with five straight wins.
Last Thursday, Southwood took a serious blow against Benton, falling 49-8. While losing is never fun, Southwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Benton is ranked 90th).
Meanwhile, Captain Shreve was able to grind out a solid victory over Natchitoches Central on Friday, taking the game 32-24.
Quortni Beaner was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries.
Southwood's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7. Captain Shreve has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first seven matchups, giving them a 6-1 record.
Southwood couldn't quite finish off Captain Shreve in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 and fell 29-26. Will Southwood have more luck at home instead of on the road?
