Two dominant guards in Peyton Plott and Javen Poindexter are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Carroll Eagles's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Red Level Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
After soaring to a 32-point victory in their last game, Carroll came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Headland by a score of 44-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carroll came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Headland is ranked 293rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Michael Culver, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was N'jia Gosha, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Red Level pushed their score all the way to 63 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of McKenzie.
Carroll's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6. As for Red Level, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-7.
Carroll beat Red Level 67-56 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carroll since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
