The Apopka Christian Academy Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Innovation Montessori, falling 62-34.
Innovation Montessori's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Trevor Thorsen, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds. Those 25 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Khalid Imran, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Apopka Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Innovation Montessori, their victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apopka Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bridge to Independence at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Innovation Montessori won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hampden DuBose Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 19th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Hampden DuBose Academy is ranked 784th, while Innovation Montessori is ranked 792nd).
