Given Valiant Cross Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while Macon-East Montgomery Academy is ranked 322nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Valiant Cross Academy found their leader in underclassman Deshawn Hall, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Hall has scored at least a third of Valiant Cross Academy's points. John Cosby was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Macon-East Montgomery Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Jacob Johnson and Keagan Roney. Johnson scored 25 points along with seven rebounds, while Roney scored 15 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season.
Valiant Cross Academy is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
