Hampden DuBose Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Merritt Island Christian Cougars at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Merritt Island Christian took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hampden DuBose Academy, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Hampden DuBose Academy beat Liberty Christian Prep 38-34. The victory was just what Hampden DuBose Academy needed coming off of a 73-49 defeat in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Merritt Island Christian pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 71-62 to City of Life Christian Academy. Merritt Island Christian has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Merritt Island Christian's defeat came about despite a quality game from Trey Nevad, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Nevad is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Angstadt, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Hampden DuBose Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Merritt Island Christian, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 4-7.
