The Zeeland West Dux will head out on the road to challenge the Zeeland East Chix at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Zeeland West is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Tuesday, Zeeland West was fully in charge, breezing past Union 61-21 at home. Given Zeeland West's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Union is ranked 574th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Zeeland East, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-36 loss to Wyoming on Tuesday. Zeeland East has not had much luck with Wyoming recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Zeeland East had strong showings from Lizzie Risdon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds, and Mirra Fenlon, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Risdon pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Zeeland West is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Zeeland East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Zeeland West strolled past Zeeland East in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 46-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Zeeland West since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
