Sehome hasn't had much luck against Oak Harbor recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mariners are taking a road trip to take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Sehome got the win against Bellingham by a conclusive 25-4. The victory continues a trend for the Mariners in their matchups with the Bayhawks: they've now won eight in a row.

Sarah Kruzich was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Kruzich was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She is also on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Sehome got a massive performance out of Jordan Walker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five RBI, three runs, and one triple. That triple was Walker's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rebekah Peterson, who scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Sehome always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .804. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oak Harbor made easy work of Anacortes on Tuesday and carried off a 10-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Like Sehome, Oak Harbor also got a great game from a two-way player: Reese Wasinger. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Wasinger was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilly Norman, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Haylee Burleigh was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Sehome's record is now 4-5. As for Oak Harbor, their record now sits at 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sehome has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Oak Harbor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Sehome suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Oak Harbor in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Mariners avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
