North Clay/Clay City were the 65-55 winner over the Robinson Maroons when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. North Clay/Clay City had to suffer through a rough 65-29 loss at the hands of Robinson. North Clay/Clay City was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
When it comes to explaining why North Clay/Clay City lost on Monday, one person who can't be blamed is Sydney Kincaid. Despite the final result, she scored three points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Matia Price, who scored eight points.
Robinson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katelyn Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Elizabeth Shea was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
North Clay/Clay City's defeat dropped their record down to 11-17. As for Robinson, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5.
North Clay/Clay City will head out on the road to challenge Lawrenceville at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Lawrenceville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Monday. Robinson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
