Seligman is 0-10 against Williams since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Seligman had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 48 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Fredonia 77-49 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Seligman has posted since December 16, 2023.
Meanwhile, Williams put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 62-16 win over Grand Canyon at home. The victory was just what Williams needed coming off of a 75-45 defeat in their prior matchup.
Williams' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JP Echeverria led the charge by scoring 14 points. Echeverria continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nickoli Cody, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Seligman now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Williams, they pushed their record up to 17-9 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Seligman lost to Williams at home by a decisive 73-59 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Williams' Cade Trimble, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. Now that Seligman knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
