Basketball Recap: Walden Grove Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walden Grove hadn't done well against Amphitheater recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Walden Grove Red Wolves walked away with a 53-40 victory over the Amphitheater Panthers. The win was nothing new for the Red Wolves as they're now sitting on three straight.

Walden Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ariana Gamillo, who posted 20 points and five boards. Gamillo's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Maria-Isa Saez Pedraza was another key player, going 5 of 8 on her way to 12 points along with four steals and three blocks.

Walden Grove has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Amphitheater, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Walden Grove has already played their next game, a 64-61 win against Sabino on the 9th. As for Amphitheater, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-25 victory against Canyon del Oro on the 10th.
