After a string of 15 wins, the Rice Bulldogs's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 60-51 to Malakoff. Rice was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Malakoff apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Defeat or not, Rice got some senior leadership from Saniya Burks and Aaliyah Nezar. Burks dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds, while Nezar. scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That was a full 45.1% of Rice's points, marking the 25th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rice's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Malakoff, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 30-3.
Rice does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Malakoff also has no future games currently scheduled.
