The Ada Cougars won the last time they faced the Fort Gibson Tigers, and things went their way on Friday too. Ada sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-48 win over Fort Gibson. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ada.
Ada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Devon Maccollister led the charge by scoring 18 points. Maccollister hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Caron Richardson, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Ada's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 16-6. As for Fort Gibson, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-8.
Ada will be playing at home against Seminole at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Seminole will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Ada is ranked 65th). As for Fort Gibson, they will head out on the road to square off against Verdigris at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Verdigris is coming into the matchup with three straight wins at home, so Fort Gibson is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
