This season hasn't been kind to the Greyhills Academy Knights, who are still winless after their 12th match. The contest between Greyhills Academy and Ray wasn't particularly close, with Greyhills Academy falling 30-16. Greyhills Academy lost against Ray in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 33-13 score last time.
Ray's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Makayla Barajas led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambria Garcia, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Greyhills Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Ray, their victory bumped their record up to 6-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greyhills Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hopi at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024. Ray's road trip will continue as they head out to face Chandler Prep at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th. Chandler Prep is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
