Rocky Mountain is 3-0 against Brighton since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rocky Mountain Lobos will head out on the road to challenge the Brighton Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Rocky Mountain is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Rocky Mountain struggled with offensive rebounds on Saturday (Mullen had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Rocky Mountain fell 67-54 to Mullen.
Despite the defeat, Rocky Mountain had strong showings from Sara Chicco, who scored 21 points, and Kenna Wagner, who scored 18 points along with five assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wagner scored 15 or more points. Meela Delap was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Brighton's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 54-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountain Range.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Haleyanna Martin, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Amy Daines, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Even though they lost, Brighton were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Rocky Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Brighton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Rocky Mountain have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 39.8% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Brighton, though, as they've only made 24.8% of their threes per game this season. Given Rocky Mountain's sizeable advantage in that area, Brighton will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Rocky Mountain against Brighton in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 54-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rocky Mountain since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
