The Leo Lions will challenge the Carroll Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Leo 2.7, Carroll 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Monday, Leo earned a 9-4 win over Norwell. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Leah Shappell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Carley Funk was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lexi Nighswander was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, Carroll entered their tilt with NorthWood on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 11-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Taylor Danley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Macie Lada, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Naomi Greenwood, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Leo, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Leo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Leo couldn't quite finish off Carroll when the teams last played two weeks ago and fell 4-2. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
