The Valley Rams will venture away from home to take on the Callaway Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Callaway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Valley took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They skirted past St. Anne-Pacelli 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since April 4, 2025.
The team relied heavily on Mason Yarbrough, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025. Henry Leon also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Callaway entered their tilt with Westside on Wednesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Seminoles with a sharp 18-6 win. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Callaway also got a great performance from Jax Campbell as he struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Campbell has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brody Hawk was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Xander Stinson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Callaway always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Valley's record now sits at 11-5-1. As for Callaway, their record is now 10-7.
Valley skirted past Callaway 1-0 in their previous meeting back in February of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
