Pagosa Springs hasn't had much luck against Bayfield recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Pirates will take on the Wolverines at 6:15 p.m.
On Thursday, Pagosa Springs came up short against Centauri and fell 3-1.
While Pagosa Springs ultimately came up short, they really made Centauri work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 29-27, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16.
Despite the defeat, Pagosa Springs had strong showings from Charity Domingo, who had ten digs, and Tatiana Monterroso, who had ten digs. Sydney Plake also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Bayfield had won four straight games and Lauren Rich did her part to make it five on Tuesday. The Wolverines walked away with a 3-1 victory over Durango for which the team can thank Rich, who had 13 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last four games she's played.
The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18.
Bayfield's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Pagosa Springs, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Pagosa Springs has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Bayfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
