Baseball Recap: McNary Takes a Loss

McNary was the 5-4 winner over Lincoln when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Celtics took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals on Tuesday. The Celtics have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lucas Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, McNary saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Gonzalez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Gonzalez also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

McNary's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Lincoln, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McNary will challenge Parkrose at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Broncos will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Celtics surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lincoln, they are taking a road trip to square off against Sandy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
