Fairhope has won seven straight games at home, while Orange Beach has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Pirates will welcome the Makos at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Fairhope 3.1, Orange Beach 1.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Fairhope's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Gulf Shores.
The result came thanks to Addison Russell's shutout, as she gave up just seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 16 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Briley Bolden was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mia Gates, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Orange Beach got the win against Hoover on Saturday by a conclusive 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Makos, who have now won 26 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Orange Beach got a massive performance out of Teagan Revette, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Katie King was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and three runs.
Orange Beach lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in seven consecutive games.
Fairhope is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Orange Beach, their win bumped their record up to 35-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Fairhope hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Orange Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Fairhope came up short against Orange Beach in their previous meeting back in March, falling 9-6. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
