The Los Altos Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Westmont Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Los Altos will be strutting in after a victory while Westmont will be coming in after a defeat.
Los Altos lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Gunn, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. The Eagles blew past the Titans 11-5 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Chloe Caldbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits.
At the plate, Sabrina Neal was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Makayla Mase, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Los Altos lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February.
Meanwhile, Westmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 5-1 to Los Gatos.
Westmont saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Burich, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
The win made it two in a row for Los Altos and bumps their season record up to 9-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Westmont, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Westmont's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Los Altos hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. It's a different story for Westmont, though, as they've only averaged .259. Will they be able to contain Los Altos' hitters?
Los Altos couldn't quite get it done against Westmont when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 4-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
