Baseball Recap: Wayne Christian Extends Winning Streak to Three

Wayne Christian never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Coastal Christian Centurions with a sharp 14-0 win. With that victory, the Eagles brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Jake Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Brody White and Miles Hamm did most of the damage at the plate: White scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Hamm scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. Wayne Christian is 2-1 when Hamm posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Nate Peck was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

The win was the third in a row for Wayne Christian, bringing their record up to 5-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Coastal Christian, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-10.
