If the Columbus Blue Devils were feeling good off their 62-14 takedown of the Kendrick Cherokees two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Columbus was outmatched by Carver at home and fell 80-28. Columbus was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-16.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sanaa Hicks, who scored five points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sydney Foster, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Columbus has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Carver, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-4.
Columbus will face off against Dougherty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carver and Palm Bay will face off at 6:15 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Palm Bay is ranked 13th in Florida, while Carver is ranked 33rd in Georgia).
