Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anaya Saldivar-Slater and Jaida Duodu Lead Mount Vernon to Victory

Mount Vernon hadn't done well against Anacortes recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Mount Vernon Bulldogs walked away with a 53-42 victory over the Anacortes Seahawks. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 57-38 loss the last time these two teams met.

Leading Mount Vernon to victory were Jaida Duodu and Anaya Saldivar-Slater. Duodu went 7 for 11 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight steals and five boards, while Saldivar-Slater posted 19 points and three steals. The match was Duodu's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kim Williams, who put up a point and five steals.

Mount Vernon's record is now 4-1. As for Anacortes, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Mount Vernon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 50-49 defeat against Nooksack Valley on the 17th. As for Anacortes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-31 win against Sedro-Woolley on the 16th.
