The Hoover Vikings will face off against the Twinsburg Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hoover 2.8, Twinsburg 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Hoover and Perry had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 23rd.
Ryan Cervenak was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Twinsburg entered their tilt with Solon on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Comets. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Lucas Tinter tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, William Bamler was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Hoon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Twinsburg's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Hoover, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.
Hoover's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Vikings have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Twinsburg, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Hoover continue to outrun the ball?
Hoover couldn't quite get it done against Twinsburg when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Will the Vikings have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
