Southwood is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lewis Cass a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Southwood Knights will take on the Lewis Cass Kings at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Southwood struggled with assists on Tuesday (Oak Hill had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Southwood took a 67-50 bruising from Oak Hill.
Will Winer put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Wilcox, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Lewis Cass' 20-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 58-49 to Logansport on Saturday. Lewis Cass has not had much luck with Logansport recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in L.j. Hillis and Jacob Taylor. Taylor had a solid game and dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Meanwhile, Hillis did his best for the losing side, scoring 18 points.
Southwood's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Lewis Cass, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-8.
Southwood suffered a grim 65-44 defeat to Lewis Cass in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Southwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
