Basketball Recap: Elite Academy Takes a Loss

Elite Academy was the 75-68 winner over True North Classical Academy when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Elite Academy Eagles fell 76-66 to the True North Classical Academy Titans on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Titans are ranked 133rd).

Despite the loss, Elite Academy still got an impressive performance from Ladainian Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 11 rebounds. Brooks' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Seanojah Evans, who went 5 of 10 en route to 12 points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Elite Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

True North Classical Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quincy Douby Jr, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The dominant performance gave Douby Jr a new career-high in points. Boosie Swan was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 15 points in addition to eight steals and six assists.

Elite Academy's record is now 8-10. As for True North Classical Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season.

Elite Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for True North Classical Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pinecrest Glades Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. True North Classical Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
