The Olympic Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Palisades Pumas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olympic will be strutting in after a win while Palisades will be coming in after a defeat.
Olympic is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 58-24 victory over Ballantyne Ridge. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-9.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Olympic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Barri Terry, who posted nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Chaya James, who went 5 of 7 en route to 10 points along with seven boards and three blocks.
Olympic was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Palisades was not quite South Mecklenburg's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell 51-41 to the Sabres. The loss continues a trend for the Pumas in their matchups with the Sabres: they've now lost six in a row.
Olympic will need focus on slowing down Brooklyn Young, one of several Palisades players who made an impact when they last played. She put up 12 points. Young has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Jade Marshall was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.
Olympic's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8. As for Palisades, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 5-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Olympic has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 33.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Palisades struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Olympic came up short against Palisades in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 36-29. Can Olympic avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
