The Roosevelt Roughriders will challenge the Poudre Impalas at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roosevelt is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
While Roosevelt's win against Severance wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Roughriders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-9 victory over the Silver Knights on Monday. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.
Brady Mylander made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Sansone, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Dalton Baudino, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Poudre not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 10th (when they won 11-1). They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over Columbine.
Like Roosevelt, Poudre also got a great game from a two-way player: Angelo Vieira. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Vieira also tossed a walk, which is notable because Poudre is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-5 otherwise. Vieira was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Tony Mondragon was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Brady Santillanes was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Poudre, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Roosevelt's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Roughriders have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Poudre, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Roosevelt continue to outrun the ball?
Roosevelt might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Poudre in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Roughriders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
