Basketball Recap: Make It Seven in a Row for Hope Academy

Hope Academy extended their winning streak to seven games thanks to a huge performance from Willie Griggs. The Hope Academy Trojan Tigers really took it to the Four Corners Coyotes for the full four quarters, racking up a 100-38 win thanks in part to Griggs, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 20 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 20 games he's played dating back to last season.

Another player making a difference was Nehemiah Rapael, who went 7 of 8 en route to 16 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games.

When it comes to explaining why Four Corners lost on Monday, don't look at Keshav Harpal. Despite the final result, he posted 13 points. That was a full 34.2% of Four Corners' points, marking the fifth time in a row he's had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samir Dudley, who put up six points.

Hope Academy pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 84.7 points per game. As for Four Corners, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.

Hope Academy and Orlando Christian Prep will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hope Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matchups -- so hopefully Orlando Christian Prep likes a good challenge. Four Corners will take on Jordan Christian Prep Sunshine in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Four Corners is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.7 points per game this season.
