Daniel Ponce put up the most strikeouts he's had since back in March on Wednesday. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched, good enough for us to rate the performance as the best he's had all season long. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Pinole Valley is 2-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-8 otherwise.

Ponce's strong effort led Pinole Valley over Salesian College Preparatory and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
