Watertown is a perfect 7-0 against York Institute since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. York Institute will be up against a hot Watertown team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Purple Tigers put the hurt on Jackson County with a sharp 13-1 win on Wednesday. Considering the Purple Tigers have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla McGuire made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Alyssa Wood and Avery Taylor did most of the damage at the plate: Wood scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Taylor scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Abigail Smith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Watertown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson County only posted an OBP of .217.
Meanwhile, York Institute can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Rockwood, sneaking past 35-34. The Dragons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Watertown now has a winning record of 7-6. As for York Institute, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 2-7.
Everything went Watertown's way against York Institute when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Watertown made off with a 12-0 win. Will the Purple Tigers repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
