Leigha Kremlacek made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abrielle Jarles, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs. Taya Clausen was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Valley Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 17 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Seton Catholic won against Odyssey Institute on Wednesday with 20 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Sentinels blew past Apache Junction 20-0. The Sentinels haven't had any issues with the Prospectors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Valley Christian, Seton Catholic also got a great game from a two-way player: Brooke Zuluaga. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Zuluaga has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Natalia Casillas was a standout: she scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Olivares, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Valley Christian pushed their record up to 18-2-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for Seton Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 12-3-2.
Both Valley Christian and Seton Catholic just can't seem to miss. The Trojans have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Seton Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
