The North Buncombe Black Hawks entered their tilt with the Smoky Mountain Mustangs with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went North Buncombe's way against Smoky Mountain on Tuesday as North Buncombe made off with a 56-33 win. 56 seems to be a good number for North Buncombe as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Among those leading the charge was Edmonds Gracie, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Gilliland, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Smoky Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kailey Broom, who scored nine points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Broom has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kieaira Ensley, who scored seven points.
North Buncombe pushed their record up to 5-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Smoky Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Buncombe will challenge Mitchell at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 509th, while North Buncombe is ranked 213th). Smoky Mountain's road trip will continue as they head out to face Robbinsville at 6:00 p.m. on December 7th.
