Football Recap: Elko Skates Past Dayton with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elko). They breezed past the Dayton Dust Devils to the tune of 42-6 on Friday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Dust Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Elko, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Coy Jones, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Elko didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Jones. Elko got some further help from Scott Sellers: he made 14 total tackles.

Despite the loss, Dayton still got an impressive performance from Duke Evans, who rushed for 170 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Evans also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making three total tackles.

Elko's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Dayton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Elko has already played their next contest, a 50-7 win against South Tahoe on the 19th. As for Dayton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 42-6 defeat against Truckee on the 19th.
