Liberty Christian Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westwood Baptist Academy apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Liberty Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lauren Moss, who scored 16 points along with four steals. That was a full 57.1% of Liberty Christian Academy's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jubilee Nowlan, who scored four points.
Liberty Christian Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Westwood Baptist Academy racked up 18 assists.
Westwood Baptist Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katie Gross out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Gross has scored at least a third of Westwood Baptist Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Hawley, who scored 13 points along with seven assists.
Liberty Christian Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty Christian Academy will face off against North County Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westwood Baptist Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Heritage Classical Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on January 27th. Heritage Classical Christian Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
