The Rehobeth Rebels will face off against the Malone Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
The third road contest was the charm for Rehobeth, as they earned their first road win of the season. They strolled past Dale County with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 73-56.
Malone fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 57-49 win over Cottondale on Tuesday. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Malone has managed all season.
Malone's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Welch, who scored 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Welch has scored at least 25% of Malone's points. Jamerious Sims was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six steals.
Rehobeth's win ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5. As for Malone, their win bumped their record up to 2-6.
Everything came up roses for Rehobeth against Malone in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 70-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rehobeth since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
