The Cocke County Fighting Cocks lost against the Jefferson County Patriots back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cocke County took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson County.
Despite the loss, Cocke County saw an underclassman step up: Karmine Carmichael scored 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. Carmichael is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Blakelyn Clevenger, who scored 11 points along with 4 steals.
Cocke County's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Jefferson County, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Cocke County will head out on the road to face off against Fulton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fulton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Cocke County is ranked 50th). As for Jefferson County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northview Academy at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Northview Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
