The York Wildcats pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Westbrook by a score of 58-55. York was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Westbrook apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2018.
Westbrook got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Taylar Hodge out in front who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hodge pulled down eight or more rebounds. Kylie Young was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
York's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Westbrook, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will be home for the holidays to greet Marshwood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marshwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maine Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while York is ranked 19th). Westbrook will be home for the holidays to greet Kennebunk at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
