It was another big night for Makel Smith, who scored 28 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Morehead's points. Avery Bigelow was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds.
Morehead pushed their record up to 6-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Martinsville, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morehead won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Carlisle at 6:00 p.m. on December 23rd. Carlisle has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 616 points over their last eight contests. Martinsville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McMichael at 7:30 p.m. on December 23rd. McMichael will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 440th in North Carolina, while Martinsville is ranked 150th in Virginia).
