The Lake Norman Charter Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Central Cabarrus Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Lake Norman Charter made easy work of Northwest Cabarrus and carried off an 11-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Trevor Cook made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on David Wignot, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Corey Bean, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Lake Norman Charter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Central Cabarrus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against South Rowan on Thursday as they made off with an 8-1 win. The Vikings not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2024.
Like Lake Norman Charter, Central Cabarrus also got a great game from a two-way player: Andre Vaughn. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Vaughn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Tellis Bumgarner looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Central Cabarrus: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-11 otherwise.
Vaughn wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Parsons, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Bryson Pate also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
The victory made it two in a row for Lake Norman Charter and bumps their season record up to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Central Cabarrus, their victory ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-12.
Everything went Lake Norman Charter's way against Central Cabarrus in their previous matchup back in March, as Lake Norman Charter made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Knights since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
