Basketball Game Preview: Thompson Valley Eagles vs. Severance Silver Knights

Thompson Valley is 6-1 against Severance since January of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Thompson Valley Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Severance Silver Knights at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Thompson Valley has three straight wins, Severance has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Thompson Valley is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Mountain View: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Thompson Valley blew Mountain View out of the water with a 57-13 final score. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 22 points or more this season.

Thompson Valley's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Avery Gibbs, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Gibbs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Libby Jarosik, who went 6 of 7 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Severance didn't have quite enough to beat Timnath on Tuesday and fell 42-40.

Thompson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Severance, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Thompson Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Severance in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Thompson Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
