Baseball Recap: Trinity Academy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Trinity Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors 5-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their 13-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Mike McKeon was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McKeon was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Cantrell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those hits marked the first that he got this season. Another player making a difference was Tommy Colgan, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Trinity Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Academy will challenge Ravenscroft at 6:45 p.m. on March 20th. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they will take on Rocky Mount Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rocky Mount Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
