The Durant Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Alonso Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Durant will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Durant is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Spoto 11-0 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Dylan Hotz looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Durant is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Brady Kelley was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Dylan Karnowski was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Durant was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Alonso was able to grind out a solid win over Robinson on Tuesday, taking the game 5-1. The Ravens haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Julian Batista tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jordan Campos, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ihonathan Perez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.
Alonso's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Durant, their record now sits at 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Durant has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Alonso struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Durant took their victory against Alonso in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0. Does Durant have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alonso turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
