Oakes has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Wyndmere/Lidgerwood Warbirds at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Dakota (Oakes is ranked 48th, while Wyndmere/Lidgerwood is ranked 73rd).
In what's become a running theme this season, Oakes gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They blew past Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] 64-35 at home. Oakes pushed the score to 53-30 by the end of the third, a deficit Tri-State co-op [Rosholt/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah] had little chance of recovering from.
Oakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Thorpe, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brianna Schmitz, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Wyndmere/Lidgerwood's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They came out on top against Enderlin by a score of 47-37.
Oakes' win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Wyndmere/Lidgerwood, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Everything came up roses for Oakes against Wyndmere/Lidgerwood in their previous meeting back in February of 2020 as the team secured a 64-37 victory. Does Oakes have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wyndmere/Lidgerwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
