The Omaha North Vikings will be playing at home against the Omaha Westside Warriors at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Omaha North sitting on 12 straight victories and Omaha Westside on three.
On Saturday, Omaha North faced Omaha Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Omaha North snuck past Omaha Central with a 56-52 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha North to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mynor Strong, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Strong is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. Jerri'on Williams was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, even though Millard South scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, Omaha Westside still came out on top. Everything went Omaha Westside's way against Millard South as Omaha Westside made off with a 86-62 victory. Given Omaha Westside's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Millard South is ranked 88th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caleb Benning continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six assists and four steals. It was the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rickey Loftin, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Omaha North's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points per game. As for Omaha Westside, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Omaha North might still be hurting after the 79-55 defeat they got from Omaha Westside in their previous matchup back in December of 2021. Thankfully for Omaha North, Tate Odvody (who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
