The Federal Way Eagles will face off against the White River Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Federal Way lost 18-12 to Orting on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meleane Siu and Sosephina Sailiai stepped up to the plate in a big way. Siu went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Sailiai went 1-for-5 with one home run and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kimora Sawyer, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles.
Meanwhile, White River was not the first on the board on Monday, but they got there more often. They blew past Jefferson 15-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.
Natalie Harris made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Harris was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, White River got a massive performance out of Emmery Thompson, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Thompson a new career-high. Abby Akins was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs.
White River kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jefferson only managed ten.
The victory got White River back to even at 2-2. As for Federal Way, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Federal Way has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .495. However, it's not like White River struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Federal Way suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to White River in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
