The Mineral County Serpents waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Excel Christian 67-32 at home. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-14.
It was another big night for DeVayne Isom, who scored 21 points along with five assists and three steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Triston Jones was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Keegan Davis, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Calderas, who scored eight points.
Mineral County pushed their record up to 12-8 with that victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.4 points per game. As for Excel Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.
Mineral County will be playing at home against Coleville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Coleville is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. Excel Christian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sage Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Sage Ridge is ranked 95th, while Excel Christian is ranked 85th).
