Cape Fear is still undefeated this season after their contest against Purnell Swett on Friday, but Purnell Swett came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cape Fear Colts came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Purnell Swett Rams. The five-run effort marked the Colts' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

McKinley Kolasa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Allie Dawson, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Amari Adams, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Cape Fear hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in four consecutive matches.

Cape Fear's record now sits at 5-0. As for Purnell Swett, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cape Fear will host Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Fear is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 13.8 runs per game this season. As for Purnell Swett, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Jack Britt at 7:00 p.m. Purnell Swett also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 8.7 runs per game.
