Softball Recap: Oak Harbor Wins Going Away Against Rossford

Oak Harbor got themselves on the board against Rossford on Friday, but Rossford never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 11-0 win. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Morgan Lalonde made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Schimmoeller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Haylee Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Oak Harbor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Oak Harbor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Rossford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Oak Harbor and Rossford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Rockets will challenge Eastwood at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (99 vs. 29). Meanwhile, Rossford (ranked 416th) will meet Maumee (ranked 166th) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
