The Limestone Rockets will head out to take on the Canton Little Giants at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Limestone 3.8, Canton 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Limestone fell victim to Dunlap and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The Rockets have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

LIZ GRUBE spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
Meanwhile, Canton entered their tilt with Galesburg on Friday with seven consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with eight. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Silver Streaks a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Little Giants have won five contests by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Natalie Downing, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Makaylynne Correa was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Canton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Canton pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Limestone, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Limestone hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Canton struggles in that department as they've averaged .416. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Limestone took their win against Canton in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Little Giants have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
